Welcome to Malawi Congress of  Trade Unions (MCTU)

MCTU  was founded in 1999 . This is the sole mother body of trade unions in Malawi,with over twenty affiliate members  representing nearly two-thirds of Malawi's workers. As a union  our goals include the following:

* To fight for better remuneration and working conditions for workers in Malawi.
* To play a leading role in the struggle for education transformation to deliver free and equal quality public education for all.
* In order to meet these goals, we have to constantly improve organisation and to conscientise and mobilise our members.

WHO CAN BECOME A MEMBER OF MCTU

Any worker is a potential member if he or she exercises the opinion to belong to the MCTU.

* Register formally for membership of a national union whose jurisdiction covers the trade of the worker

* Fill a form authorizing the national union to collect dues, and belong to a local union

Any group of five workers at a work place may constitute a local union within a national union.
